Wet-Chemical Syntheses Ontology (WCSO, WeChemSyn) provides a semantic framework for representing wet-chemical synthesis of (nano)particles, including experimental workflows, synthesis-process descriptions, and related data for Self-Driving Lab scenarios. It is developed at BAM and built on PMDco/BFO foundations to support interoperable and reusable synthesis knowledge representation across materials R&D pipelines., DieWet-Chemical Syntheses (WeChemSyn) Ontology (WCSO) bietet einen semantischen Rahmen für die strukturierte Darstellung von Wissen über die nass-chemische Synthese von (Nano)Partikeln. The Wet-Chemical Syntheses (WeChemSyn) Ontology (WCSO) provides a semantic framework for the structured representation of knowledge related to the wet-chemical syntheses of (nano) particles. Developed at the Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) / Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing in Berlin, Germany, WCSO supports the formalization and integration of data related to wet-chemical synthesis across experimental workflows, processes, and material properties. It builds upon the PMD Core Ontology (PMDco), a mid-level ontology created within the Platform MaterialDigital (PMD) project which is grounded in the Basic Formal Ontology (BFO). By adhering to BFO as a foundational (top-level) ontology, WCSO ensures semantic interoperability with a wide range of BFO-aligned ontologies and knowledge graphs in the materials science and engineering domain.
